2011 Year End Report

There are currently thirty four career firefighters, one chief, one division chief of EMS, one deputy fire marshal, three battalion chiefs, and one administrative assistant at CFD. All line firefighters are either EMT/IV Technicians or EMT/Paramedics and have high levels of training in fire suppression.
We have two staffed stations, Station 41 in downtown Camas and Station 42 in the Prune Hill area. Since July 13th, 2011 a long term functional consolidation has been in place with the neighboring Washougal Fire Department. Both departments operate under one fire chief. This merger will continue until at least December 31, 2013 and provides a total staffing of 51 full time personnel, and over 30 volunteer firefighters. This program consists of cross staffing personnel from both departments in an effort to improve efficiency and save money. During this period of time, Camas Fire Department will be staffing a paramedic unit along side Washougal staff at Washougal Station 171, 24 hours per day. Station 171 is located at 1400 "A" Street. This effort doubles the staffing at Washougal, provides a paramedic unit, and significantly decreases response times to citizens in that area. A fourth fire station, which is manned by volunteer firefighters, is operated at 39th Street in Washougal, under a cooperative agreement with East County Fire & Rescue.
Each station contains at least one advanced life support ambulance and either a fire truck or engine. All of our fire apparatus contain advanced life support equipment along with state-of-the-art fire equipment.
Camas Fire Department is the only fire department in Clark County that provides ambulance services. This added responsibility requires our firefighters to be highly skilled in emergency services along with fire suppression techniques.
