Drawdown Begins September 16

The City of Camas Public Works Department will be reducing the level of Lacamas Lake water levels on September 16, to facilitate the annual inspections of the upper and lower dams, and provide time to conduct any necessary maintenance. During the drawdown, water levels reduce by approximately 6-feet to the 5-foot level as measured at the Dams. The minimum lake level will be achieved at approximately 8:00 a.m. September 21. Refilling the lake is scheduled to begin on October 28, and will take several weeks depending on rainfall volumes.

Lacamas Lake Cleanup

Camas residents will notice that Lacamas Lake is looking a little bit different in the coming weeks. For residents who are new to the area, the sight of bare ground around the lake may be shocking, but the drawdown only lasts for a few weeks. Each year local volunteers plan a cleanup event to coincide with it. As part of this effort led by Underwriters Laboratories, up to 200 people descend on Heritage Park, and the surrounding areas in order to remove piles of garbage from the lake. The effort is immense, and several tons of debris are typically collected. Join Us! Saturday, September 28, 9 - 11:30 a.m. Meet at the Heritage Park parking lot off of Lake Road.
