Recycling

 

New One Bin Recycling Carts Coming Soon!

The City of Camas has entered into an agreement with Waste Connection Inc. to provide a cart recycle system that will replace the current three-bin system throughout Camas. We anticipate starting the cart distribution and service in mid-December. Waste Connections will mail two separate notices prior to the cart ddelivery. When your cart arrives, a detailed information packet will be attached.

The City contracts out the following services:

  • Recycling Services: This is a mandatory City Service (See Ordinance 1778) Recycling bins are provided to the residential customers at no cost by Waste Connections.
  • Yard Debris Program: (not mandatory to customers) This is an available service to the residential customers who have yard debris and wish to sign up for a special lower rate service for yard debris disposal.

New additions to curbside recycling:

Aerosol cans: Put empty cans in GLASS/METAL bin with milk cartons, plastic bottles, cans and glass. Throw away lids. DO NOT recycle partial or full cans; these may be taken to a household hazardous waste collection site (See contact information in right column for more information).

Household batteries: Put in re-sealable, clear plastic bags and place BESIDE stacked recycle bins. DO NOT set out vehicle batteries; they may be taken to a household hazardous waste collection site. (See contact information in right column for more information)

Used Antifreeze: Place used antifreeze in a plastic, one gallon milk jug with a tight fitting lid. DO NOT mix drained antifreeze with anything else.

Recycling Rates:

RATES FOR 2009 $2.90/month - Mandated residential program.
Yard Debris Rates:

RATES FOR 2009  $13.46 bi-/monthly or $64.06/year - 90 gallon container - Voluntary program - provides disposal options at reduced prices from regular garbage service. Residents opting to enroll in this service will not see the service billed on their regular City of Camas bill. Billing for optional yard debris service comes as a separate statement from Waste Connections.
