The
long range planning function maintains the City's Comprehensive
Plan, Zoning Code, Land Division Ordinance, Shoreline
Master Program, local SEPA ordinance, and other growth
management plans and regulations.
Amendments
to these documents are prepared in accordance with direction
provided by the City Council. This function provides
staff support to the City Council and Planning Commission
in their roles of reviewing, recommending, and adopting
the amendments.
It
also coordinates with other agencies on regional planning
issues, monitors legislative activity, administers the
commute trip reduction program, and undertakes special
projects as directed by the City Council. Growth Management
Act compliance activities occur primarily in this division.
