GIS (Geographical Information Systems)

General Information
There has been continual development within GIS over the last ten years in Camas. As technology has improved, our ability to produce meaningful data maps has increased. The City of Camas works closely with Clark County GIS to integrate information and offer support to all City Departments. A major project in 2003 will be to convert all of the engineering drawings to digital images, which will allow desktop access and use by our engineering staff and consultants.

GIS also works closely with engineering on three major modeling software projects:
The water system model is used to predict future capital projects along with identifying impacts a development may have on the system.
The pavement management system model helps determine the best use for the limited street maintenance budget.
The storm water project is underway to identify and provide data on storm water discharge points. This will allow for a better understanding of the storm system and will provide an opportunity to upgrade our water quality.
