The Fire Prevention Division enforces the 2003 edition of the International Fire Code. Annual fire inspections are performed on most Camas businesses. If you have a complaint regarding a possible fire code issue please call or e-mail our office.
In addition to permits issued by the Building Department, the Fire Department issues permits and conducts plan reviews and inspections for Fire Code compliance on new construction, alterations or change in use and installation or alteration of fire and life safety systems. Permits are also issued to maintain, store, use or handle materials, or to conduct processes which produce conditions hazardous to life or property, or to install equipment used in connection with such activities.
Fire protection equipment such as fire alarms, sprinkler systems, commercial cooking equipment etc. are required to have an annual inspection and test of the system. (Semi-annual for commercial hood systems) by a qualified individual. Inspection and test reports are required to be sent to the fire department.
